About KIPP New Orleans
KIPP New Orleans Schools is associated with the national KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) Network, which recruits and trains school leaders to open KIPP schools across the country. The KIPP network is rapidly growing; there are currently 125 KIPP schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia, serving more than 39,000 students.
In its sixth year, KIPP New Orleans Schools (KNOS) is an influential network of tuition-free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public charter schools that empower students with the knowledge and character traits to be life-long learners and leaders. KNOS operates nine high-performing schools on eight campuses, serving 3,200 of the city's highest-need students. We aim to ultimately grow to 12 schools - five primary, five middle and two high schools - by 2015. At this scale, we will enroll close to 5,300 students, or 13% of the current public school population in New Orleans. Ultimately, through this work, we endeavor to see 1,000+ first-generation college graduates by 2022.
At the start of each academic year, KIPP New Orleans Schools students and their parents must sign on to commitment to excellence – where they agree to work hard, have faithful attendance, and acceptable behavior. Teachers sign this document too, promising to do whatever it takes to help each of our students learn. KIPP New Orleans Schools commits to giving our teachers the tools and support they need to keep their promises, to grow as educators and individuals and to experience the rewards of team and family.
If you are resourceful and entrepreneurial – with high standards, high integrity and high energy – please consider joining the KIPP New Orleans team and family.
