More Time.
Part of the national network of KIPP schools, KIPP New Orleans believes that
students need more time in school to make significant academic gains. Students
attend classes from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, alternating Saturdays, and for two to four weeks in the
summer. They complete up to two hours of homework every night, and learn to
succeed at the highest levels. Scholars also are given the opportunity to excel
in extra-curricular activities and take their learning into the
community.
Going the Distance.
KIPP New Orleans has the highest expectations of our students,
knowing that with dedication they will achieve at the highest levels. As
educators and leaders, we know that we must do whatever it takes
to support them, their families, and our community. Working at
KIPP New Orleans requries an incredible work ethic and dedication to
our students. Teachers are available in the evenings via cell
phone for homework help or parent concerns. We meet all students where
they are and provide the instruction and support to ensure they reach
their full potential.
Our Team and Family. KIPP New Orleans is invested in the professional development of our teachers and staff. We work as a team, both within and across our schools, to overcome any challenges we face, to share our learnings as we grow, and to continually push ourselves to improve our instruction.
No Shortcuts. No Excuses. We at KIPP New Orleans take full responsibility for the learning of our students. Regardless of the other pressures and stresses in their lives, if our students are not learning, responsibility lies with the adults and teachers in our schools. If we set high expectations for our students and provide the structures and supports for them to achieve, each and every student can reach their full potential.
Full-Time Teaching Opportunities (Two years full-time teaching experience required)
Found a school. In the Fall of 2008, we are opening a new elementary school, KIPP Central City Primary, and are looking for Founding Kindergarten Teachers.
Teaching Fellowship Opportunities (No teaching experience required)
For educators with less than 2 years of full-time teaching experience, KIPP New Orleans offers a Teaching Fellowship Program. This is an opportunity to work in tandem with an experienced teacher for one year of training and professional development. Teaching Fellows begin the school year supporting a teacher and throughout the year build the skills needed to transition to a full-time teaching role at KIPP New Orleans. To learn more about the Teaching Fellowship and to apply online, please visit the KIPP New Orleans career center.
