How Round 2 Works
Round 2 is for families who want to appeal their Round 1 school assignment or for families new to Orleans Parish who want to participate for the first time.
1. The RSD will honor family choice first and foremost...
- Families should rank they schools they want their child to attend
- The RSD will try to match students with one of their top choices
2. ...but some schools will have more applicants than seats
- When that happens, we will use a single set of priorities to help decide which students get those seats first.
- a. Students who participated in the Main Round This priority applies to students who were matched to a school not of their choice in the first round
- b. Siblings of students who are currently enrolled in the school - Siblings are defined as sharing a common parent / guardian OR living at the same address
- c. Students who live in the school’s Geographic Area - This priority applies to grades Pre-K-8 only. To find out which Geographic Area you live in and which schools are in that area, visit: www.gcrdata.com/RSDSchools.
