In keeping the promise it makes to students and families, KIPP New Orleans Schools’s KIPP to College program ensures students – at all levels and in a range of schools – remain on the path to college. The mission of the program is to build a college-going culture and a community of students who are prepared for success in college and beyond.
The goal of KIPP to College is three-fold: 1) KIPP middle school graduates will attend a college-prep high school, 2) KIPP students and alumni in high school will maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher in a college-prep curriculum, and 3) KIPP alumni will earn a degree from a post-secondary institution within six years of graduating from high school.
Students are supported by a full-time, school-based Director of High School Placement and Alumni Support and regional KIPP to College Director. These individuals interact with colleagues across the KIPP network as well as with high school counselors in Greater New Orleans. They are members of the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC) and coordinate annual meetings of the KIPP New Orleans Schools Higher Education Advisory Board.
