KNOS, JFK Announce Poree as JFK Football Head Coach

NEW ORLEANS (May 4, 2020) - John F. Kennedy High School (JFK), officially part of the KIPP New Orleans Schools’ (KNOS) network on July 1st, proudly announces Albert J. Poree as the new JFK Head Football Coach. Beginning Summer 2020, Poree will join the new team at JFK under the leadership of incoming principal Joseph Jones, Jr.

“Since taking the reins of JFK, my vision for this school includes many great advances to take it to next level. We will create a home for students to develop leadership skills and prepare to succeed in the community. Additionally, our plans are to increase AP courses, promote positive student culture and expand our extracurricular activities,” said JFK Principal Jones. “With that, we are extremely excited to have Mr. Poree join the JFK Family! With his leadership and experience, we’ll be able to capitalize on the upward trajectory of the program. The possibilities are endless on where he’ll be able to lead our team.”

Prior to joining JFK, Poree coached a number of high school football teams across New Orleans including: Booker T. Washington, Sarah T. Reed, McDonough #35, Edna Karr and De La Salle high schools. Additionally, he has experience on the collegiate and professional levels having worked with Mississippi State University, Dartmouth College, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans and other teams.

JFK Head Football Coach Poree said, “I am honored to become the next head football coach at John F. Kennedy. I look forward to building a successful football program that will develop young men on and off the field. I know that our alumni and the community will be proud of the work that we do. I am excited to be a part of the Cougar family!”

Coach Poree earned his Bachelors of Science in Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is currently a Teacher Certification Program Candidate at Southern University of New Orleans.
