During Booker T. Washington’s homecoming game, former NFL Player and Booker T. Washington alumni Calvin Magee’s family was honored and presented with his retired jersey - #84. Magee, a member of the class of 1981, was a star football player.
After graduating high school, Magee continued his football career at Southern University College earning SWAC honors in 1983-1984. Magee played professional football with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for four years and then went on to coach high school and college football. Magee’s coaching career spanned over 25 years and he was inducted into Southern University Hall of Fame in 2000.
Calvin Magee passed away on May 20, 2022 and Booker T. Washington High School honored his legacy by retiring his football jersey #84.
