The 2023 Summer Experience program at KIPP New Orleans Schools brought together students from various campuses for a summer filled with growth, exploration, and meaningful connections.
Scholars from KIPP Believe, KIPP Central City Academy, KIPP East, KIPP Morial, and KIPP Leadership enthusiastically participated in this collaborative effort, creating a vibrant community that embraced diversity and broadened horizons.
Mahki McGee, a talented 7th grader from KIPP Central City Academy's robotics program, described the program as an incredible experience. "These past weeks have been truly remarkable! I had the opportunity to pursue my passion for technology and problem-solving through the robotics program. Not only did I acquire new skills, but I also forged lasting friendships."
Throughout the program, students were encouraged to excel in various disciplines, including debate, robotics, band, and sports. Dedicated leaders provided guidance and inspiration, laying the foundation for outstanding teams and programs in the upcoming school year.
KNOS alumni, such as Christon Hughes, a former Booker T. Washington High School student, played a vital role in fostering a supportive and encouraging environment. Reflecting on the program, Hughes remarked, "It has been a pleasure to witness the growth and development of these young minds. The summer enrichment program provided a platform for their talents to flourish. I am proud to have been a part of this journey."
Daisy Richardson, an 8th grader from KIPP Leadership, expressed her gratitude for the dedicated staff members who supported the students throughout the program. "The staff made this program truly special. Their unwavering commitment to creating an engaging learning environment was remarkable. I am thankful for the experiences I had this summer."
