KIPP New Orleans Students Attend Annual HBCU College Fair Organized by The Links Pontchartrain Chapter

At KIPP New Orleans Schools, we believe in providing our students with every opportunity to explore their higher education options and make informed decisions about their future. That's why we were thrilled to have our students from Booker T. Washington High School, along with those from Frederick A. Douglass and John F. Kennedy high schools, attend the annual HBCU college fair organized by The Links Pontchartrain Chapter.

The event, held at BTW, brought together representatives from more than a dozen Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to engage with students and showcase their institutions. This unique opportunity allowed hundreds of New Orleans high school students to visit multiple colleges all in one place, eliminating the need for costly and time-consuming trips outside the city.

For many of our students, making formal college visits beyond the New Orleans area can be challenging due to limited resources. The HBCU college fair effectively brought the universities to them, providing access to valuable information and insights that will help guide their academic journey.

The HBCUs represented at the fair provided admissions and financial aid information, as well as details about campus life and activities. This comprehensive approach ensures that our students have a clear understanding of the opportunities available to them and the steps they need to take to pursue their higher education goals.

At KIPP New Orleans Schools, we recognize the importance of HBCUs in providing a stable and nurturing environment for students who may face a higher risk of not entering or completing college. For more than 150 years, these institutions have been dedicated to offering diverse learning environments that ensure every student has the chance to succeed academically and personally. We are committed to exposing our students to these valuable options and supporting their aspirations.

We extend our gratitude to The Links Pontchartrain Chapter for organizing this annual HBCU college fair and providing our students with this incredible opportunity. By working together as a community, we can continue to empower our young people and help them build a strong foundation for their future success.

At KIPP New Orleans Schools, we remain dedicated to preparing our students for college, career, and beyond. Events like the HBCU college fair are just one of the many ways we strive to support our students on their path to achieving their dreams.
